I’m just trying to evaluate MODx, but it’s proving to be impossible. The log-in is not working at opensourcecms.org (and hasn’t in days) and I installed both .9.2.1 and the .9.5 beta yesterday and the log-in fails for both of them too. (I made an earlier post, that no one has replied to).

The installer works fine, it has no problems connecting to my MySQL database and getting its job done, but the login is failing once it tries to make a query. Is it a MySQL problem, a permissions one, or is MODx just too delicate?

The installation is here: http://www.medialab.com/PWMenus/modx-0.9.2.1/manager/. User: admin Password: test

My PHP info is here http://www.medialab.com/PWMenus/test.php

    Any advice appreciated.

Yes, works great for me on all my servers (various Linux environments, PHP/MySQL versions) and local development environment (WinXP and all PHP/MySQL versions).

And we have no control over the demo at opensourcecms.org.

What’s happening is you’re not getting a connection to the db on that site, as indicated by the errors when you attempt to login to the manager. There must be some kind of configuration issue with your database or some kind of permission issue between the database and Apache/PHP, but I’m not seeing anything obvious from the php info. Not sure why the login is causing the issue. You might want to check and make sure MySQL (if you are running 5.0+) is not running in the new STRICT_MODE, which seems to be enabled by default on some distributions of MySQL.
