I have just installed the cms but find it quite complex compared to everything else I have tried, phpnuke, e107, website baker...yet, it looks quite powerful and would like to get it to work!

One question for which I did not find any answer in the support pages or the documentation, how do you add a snipet on a page? I can select them but then what?

    Cheers

      Hi,
You edit your page, and put this sort of thing in the content area. Note the brackets:
      [[SnippetName]]

      Additional info is here:
      http://modxcms.com/adding-snippets.html

However, I should also tell you that MODx isn’t really a typical CMS like those others you mentioned. It’s more of a development platform. If you’re looking for your typical CMS’s huge menu of stuff that you can just select and pop into a page, I doubt that you’ll be happy with MODx.

      Good luck.

        As covered here:

        [[you-snippet? &param1=`foo` &param2=`bar`]]

        or

        [!you-snippet? &param1=`foo` &param2=`bar`!]

Edit: Very apt description samba... I think the snippets reference list just might be removed until we can do a bit more useful things with it to avoid things like this in the future... I can see where it can be confusing.

There is only one use of the Snippets list tab in Document Settings - seeing how a snippet is spelt. Even then I always forget that I can use that and end up looking at the other list. Without it adding the code to the box it is largely useless. The fact that it leads to confusion is just another nail in the coffin. I entirely agree that this tab should go. Presumably this saves us an sql query hit as well, which can only be good for performance.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.
