    I just did a fresh MODx install on a new server, and for some reason, the variable ((site_url)) isn’t being set properly (its value is http://~<user> instead of http://www.domain.com/~<user>).

    I suppose that ((site_url)) is somehow inferred from the server and gets set automatically, so likely somethings wierd with the server.

    If that’s the case, what’s the best way to set ((site_url))? Is it to hard-code the right value in manager/include/config.inc.php? But I can’t edit that file because it’s owned by the "www" user and I don’t have read/write access.

    My temporary hack was to write a silly snippet that has the line

    $site_url=’http://www.domain.com/~<user>;

    and gets inserted at the top of every template.

    What are better options?

    Thanks,
    --Michael
