I am having a problem installing

Hi, i am very new to modx. I have installed it on one server and it is working fine. However i am just trying to install on another server in a sub directory and am having a bit of a problem.

the server does not acept .htaccess file so i put the rewrite directives in a apatche directive block through the server gui.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /new/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

but when go to www.domain.com/new/index.php and click install it redirects to www.domain.com/new/install/index.php but shows the same page.. click to install, and if i click it redirects to www.domain.com/new/install/install/index.php and if i keep clicking it keeps going like this...

and when i ftp my server all of the install file are still there but most of the files their contents has been erased?

has anyone ever had this problem? thanks for any insight.

Try not turning on the rewrite engine until you’ve installed and configured the new installation to use Friendly URLs.
