I am new to php and modx, but I have some knowledge, and I’m having trouble with user management. Here is what I need to do:

We have a youth group web site for our church: http://youth.riograndebaptist .org
We want teens from our group to have an account where they can log in and post comments on topics our youth director will post. I know who to set that up with the tutorial that was given in the documentation, but what we need is a way for the youth to post a comment, but the comment will first have to be approved before it can go online. Is there a way possible to restrict users to publishing until the comments has been approved? I searched the forum, but I couldn’t find exactly what I needed.
    Thanks,

    Estevan Montoya

      Estevan,
Though MODx is a powerful and excellent system, I have not been able to find anything with those exact features, either, specifically the moderated comment thing. If that’s not true, I’m guessing that someone will chime in.

You might be better off looking for a blogging or news publishing type of system for your site. They may have that sort of feature. It seems to me, though, that most moderating is done for things like news posts rather than comments.

The way I see comments typically being handled is either to disable them entirely, or only allow them if you sign up with a real email address and log on, which is at least somewhat helpful.

It’s also possible that MODx may be overkill for what you’re doing. Then again, if you really want to use MODx, it may be possible to wrap it around the other application so that you can have both.

We hope to have moderated comments code (and a lot more on that front) in the next release. It will be in the following one for sure, as it’s one of the core snippets we’d like to distribute.
