    Hi,

    I´m no quite sure were to post this issue so I´ve put it here.
    I was wondering how to develop a way to allow the sale of items that would need the following fields: (I’ll be looking anf ShopX if anybody more ModX savvy think its suitable)

    1) Item description
    2) Item location: city and street;
    3) item timestamp: date and hour;
    4) items should be searched based on the above criteria (city, street, date and hour). For example: search for item X located at city A, street B, day C, from 10.00 to 11.00 (being the hours searchable by range).

    Do you think this is possible with modx? huh
    If anyone can help me with this issue i would greatly appreciate it.

    Best regards

      It’s definitely possible, and has been done with MODx. 1-3 can be easily stored as TV’s; you would just need to build or customize a search snippet to accomplish 4, set-up a shopping cart, and author or integrate a payment processor (or several) for processing checkouts. I believe ShopX is architected like this, but I’m not familiar with it personally; the concept is the same though. It would just require a little more PHP knowledge to get it set-up manually.

        Purchasable items/services available on streets at certain times? Is it bad that my first thought was that this would be useful for pimps?

        Anyway. Yes. Possible. What experience do you have with coding?

        Also note that if you can get the co-ordinates for the places, you could potentially use the Google Maps add-ons to display all the items. Unless you really are selling drugs or hookers, in which case Google won’t let you.

        PS. Welcome to MODx.
          No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

          Not bad. Just suggests itself.

              LoL, hey normally ’perversion’ is in the eye of the beholder wink . No its not pimping, its for colectible items that were on that places at that time. Anyaway It was the requested feature for me to do, and since all my sites are modx I would like to stick to it.

              Anyway. Yes. Possible. What experience do you have with coding?

              Not as much as i´de like, normally i tweak and try code around until it makes what I need, if anyone can give a hand or point some readings I would greatly appreciate it.

              ...there you are again with the pimping laugh. Coordinates and google maps is a bit harder since are the users who are supposed to post the itens and I presume they are not that much internet savvy.

              PS. Welcome to MODx.

              Thanks, I hope i can contribute in some way. (already put my vote on www.packtpub.com/nominations)

                  Adding those fields is easy - In ShopX, each product is a document, so you’re just looking at bunch of extra TVs.

                  However, the search is particularly fiddly to implement. In fact, I’m not currently aware of an advanced search snippet that searches TVs - let alone anything that searches multiple TVs and allows for date ranges!

                  Presently, you’d probably have to use some Ditto calls for a drill-down approach - click city, click street, click day, click time. You could see the results at each stage.

                  This sort of thing would be pretty useful for most ShopX users - and many MODx users, so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has something in the pipeline.

                  I’ve therefore taken the liberty of renaming this thread to better catch the eye of people who might be able to help (was "Custom e-commerce with modX issue", now "Custom e-commerce: How to search products (documents) by time, street etc?").

                    That solutions would suit the needs too. Hope that someone come up with it since I have very few time in my hands to work that around in the next days.

                    Could you please take a look at my other problem I cant seem to work around this issue either! Thanks

                      The client is going with the ’normal’ e-commerce solution using the description field for street and time.

                      But if anyone find this implementation discussed here useful, please continue the thread as more people can use it.
