    Hi all

I’m new to modx (changed 3 weeks ago) and I know this kind of question has been posted before (I’ve read everything), but I’ve already spent 6-7 hours trying to make it work.
Modx is truly amazing and powerful, but… ya…
The navigation is the most important part of each site. Believe-me, I’m working as web-usability consultant (yeah, I’m not very good at coding, only at… blah blah grin) for a Swedish official organization. This question though is related to a… private matter.
I have a site with a tree like menu structure, where some of the main folders (these are top level) have 2 to 4 sublevels. By default, all the elements in the menu are shown. I’ve applied some CSS found on this forum, so only the active menu’s children are shown. That’s still very confusing.

Is there a way to show only the main elements of the menu and only the immediate children of the active menu?

    Example:
    Main menu 1
    Main menu 2
    Main menu 3
Child 1 (this child has also children, but they are hidden, until it becomes active)
Child 2 (this child has also children, but they are hidden, until it becomes active)
    Child 3
    SubChild 1
    SubChild 2
    SubSubChild 1
    SubSubChild 2
    SubSubChild 3
    SubChild 3
Child 4 (this child has also children, but they are hidden, until it becomes active)
    Main menu 2
    ……………..

I know that CSS is the best way to do this (at least, according to this forum), but can CSS solve this also?

    Thanks for any help

May I suggest for the next version, a truly Tree Menu structure, controlled programmatically?

I think all the CSS answer you need can be found in the menu area of www.cssplay.co.uk
      A great site, indeed.

Use Wayfinder and it’s hideSubMenus parameter, e.g. [!Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &hideSubMenus=`1`!]
