    Hi all,

I would like to create a ’client area’ whereby, clients can login and view files specific to them and their project. Is this possible with modxcms?

    Thanks
    Lee

Piece of cake if the files you’re talking about are existing already, take a look at http://www.muddydogpaws.com/notebook/file-download-snippet to see what can be done with the FileDownload snippet.

&downloadGroups - Allow only certain user groups to download files, the list of files will display but the user will get a message if they are not in the specified group. Use a comma-delimited list in your snippet call i.e. &downloadGroups=`group1,group2` You can change the message the user sees in the variable $loginmsg.

This might be a problem. What I would like to do is have the downloads hidden until a user log’s in, either then, I will like to only show files which have been assigned to that particular client. i.e. Client A logs in and see’s Client A’s file, Client B logs in and see’s Client B’s files but not Client A.

        Thanks

Haven’t done that yet, but I guess you could get around by creating a document for client A, one for client B, etc... and you drop the FileDownload in each one. Using permissions you limit each client’s acces rights.

Probably it would require a small mod if you want to separate each clients file in a distinct directory.
