How to redirect no-frameset pages after processing something in frameset

For a special site I created a frameset. In the upper frame row the user can edit something "Ändern"), in the lower row the changes can be seen as preview ( "Vorschau").



That works very fine, but when the user clicks something in the menu of the upper frame then of course the new site is displayed in the upper frame.
The lower row is still to be seen >:(



So I need something like a notifier or variable ... and a way to replace the frame set by the html site required by clicking some menu item?

Add target="_top" to the links.

This sounds good but:

the dropmenu snippet does not add any target-information (and it can’t because it does not know when and when not) and within the manager gui I don’t find any place to add the target ?

One workaround could be to change the target attribute by JavaScript for the created menu list and all other links one knows they could occur in that context.

But than one depends on JavaScript turned on - not a good idea. Furthermore there could occur some links in new contexts one did not consider before.

So I wait... and wait ... and wait...

Anyway, after working 2 months with MODx I am really impressed by the power of this CMS

Whilst you wait for Wayfinder to add this, if it hasn’t already, you can use:

<base target="_top">

in the head of your template.
