    Hello all!

I would like to upgrade my 0.9.1 MODx site to 0.9.2.1. Until now, after many tries and reading through lots of threads, it still doesn’t work. The problem is in importing the old data into the new version of MODx.

I exported the old (0.9.1) database using PHPMyAdmin to a .sql file. When I try to import it into the new (0.9.2.1) database using PHPMyAdmin, I get errors from PHPMyAdmin, like
    [tt]--
-- Dumping data for table `modx_active_users`
    --
    INSERT INTO `modx_active_users`
    VALUES ( 1, ’admin’, 1155815671, NULL , ’8’, ’127.0.0.1’ ) ;

    MySQL said: Documentation
    #1062 - Duplicate entry ’1’ for key 1 [/tt]

Looks like a problem with setting the primary key...?

One time I succeeded (I can’t remember how), and then MODx gave errors when I wanted to save changed content. If I remember correctly:

    • a pop-up saying "Can’t find parent!"
    • An error occured [sic, with one ’r’] ... couldn’t send headers, data already sent.
Googling on the above text led me to one (1) page of Etomite. Reading that thread seems to hint to a change in the database.

Has there been a database change between 0.9.1 and 0.9.2.1?

And how can I export and import the DB content from the old version to the new version of MODx?

    TIA!!

You would need to run the upgrade installer on the old site then I suspect it would be exportable just fine. There is much changed in the DB between 0.9.1 and 0.9.2.1.

I had this problem once, when I imported a 0.9.1 database into a 0.9.2 install : the DB strucutre is a bit different. As Ryan said, you have to install a 0.9.1 instance, then import your DB and then install the 0.9.2.1 files and run the upgrade for it to work.

So that would mean overwrite the 0.9.1 version files with the complete 0.9.2.1 files (with the install dir), EXCEPT for /manager/includes/configuration.inc.php?

Yes indeed. And make sure you keep any customized stuff in the assets folder.

OK. I’ll report the results in this thread.

              Thanks for the help!

I tried to do this this weekend, however I seem to have erased the 0.9.1 version from my hard disks... undecided

It seems 0.9.1 is not downloadable anymore. I found one instance (.tar.bz2) somewhere on the web, but I don’t know if that has been tampered with.
Does anyone know the the MD5 of the original 0.9.1.tar.bz2 file? Or where I can download 0.9.1?

Rest assured, i will NOT use 0.9.1 for a production site. I am aware of the security risks. wink

                TIA,

Yup, 0.9.1 seems to be the first not released as a forum attachment.

It is available in the SVN:
                  http://svn1.cvsdude.com/rethrash/tattoo/tattoo/releases/MODx-0.9.1/
for which you will need an SVN client such as TortoiseSVN.

No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

                    Hi all,

Just did the upgrade following the above recipe and the upgrade works like a charm.

When I upgrade the 0.9.1 files to 0.9.2.1 and used the URL for the home page (f.e. http://localhost/site/) I got an empty screen. Don’t know why. Then I used http://localhost/site/install and the upgrade went without a hitch.

So thanks again for the responsive and great help!!
