    Hi all

I’ve been asked to migrate a couple of hundred webusers to a newsletter group - looking at the database table web_user - I can see how I might do that - except for the password encryption bit.

Has anyone got any advise on importing lots of webusers?

there are three tables you’ll need to work with, web_users, for the username and password. Then get the insert ID from that insertion, and add the data such as full name and email to the web_users_attributes table. Use the same insert ID to add the users to the web_groups table; you’ll need to know the gid of the web group you want these users added to.

If your original user passwords are encrypted with MD5, all you need to do is directly insert the existing MD5 hash. If it was some other encryption scheme, you’ll need to create new passwords for all the users and email them with their new passwords. Unless you know their plain-text passwords, then when you insert them just md5() them first.
