    Hi!
I just found out about MODx after some work with Joomla! and I found some things that may not be so good with the friendly URLs.

I enabled friendly URLs with aliases and alias paths. The problem is that MODx generates relative URLs which fucks up everything. I solved it by a <base href="blablabla"> and now it works, but how about the search engines? Do they understand <base href="">? They go into one page and follow all the links from that one, then follow all links from the next page and so on. But if it does not use the base href it will screw everything up.

Joomla had a nice feature with sef urls: it replaced all URLs with an absolute url on the fly. There should be no mess when migrating more than maybe changing a variable somewhere with the root-path. At least I think it could be relative to the site:s root.

My installation is at http://www.domain.com/modx/. The home-page URL is now index.html but I want it to be {{ROOT_URL}}index.html where {{ROOT_URL}} in my case is either /modx/ or http://www.domain.com/modx/.

    Hope you get my point.

    Have a nice day.

PS: Maybe I should post this in a "Bugs" forum? DS.

Why would search engines not understand a base-href attribute?

I’ve heard that some bots have problems with some relative urls and SEOs recommend to use absolute URLs.
I am not so worried though.

Neither am I : it’s a whole, and semantics and clean code play a big part in it, url structure are not everything. Not that I think we have an issue here, urls are very nice with MODx...
