    Hi folks,

I’am a Modx Newbie and I must say, it is a really great CMS. I just started bringing up a site which will be maintained by several authors. Every Author should only write articles in specific category’s or subcategory’s. So far so good. My problem is now that I want allow an author to have access to a subsubcategory (let’s call it A3) but he should not touch the main category A1 and the subcategory A2. I have set user and document groups for A1 A2 and A3. When i assign user access only to A3, he can’t see any folder when he is logged in. Did I do something wrong or is this impossible with Modx?

Perhaps some of you guys know a solution for my problem.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank

Create a user group for each of your authors and assign those pages/subfolders to those user groups. Check the documentation for more info on permissions, but what you’re looking for is entirely doable and straightforward. Hope this helps. smiley

Thank you for your answer, but i have done before what you propose and it didn’t work. By searching the forum i have found this post where exactly my problem ist described and classified as bug. So my question: Is this bug solved or is it still my failure?

What permissions *do* your A3 users have for A1 & A2?
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

            Hi Paul,

my A3-User haven’t any permissions for A2 and A1. I guess this is the reason why they can’t see the document tree when logged in. When they use the integrated backend search, A3 is found and can be edited, but for this you have to know the ID and i think it’s a little bit uncomfortable to do this. All users (A1, A2 and A3) belong to the same role (with editing rights), but to different user groups. So one user have access to A1, A2 and A3, the second user should only work on A3. Or have i to create different roles for user A3 so he can read only A1 and A2 and edit A3? This would be a solution but i thought that only one role per user is allowed. I’m a little bit confused now..,
