    Hi all,

I installed a modx installation with sample data installed, had a great little 404 error. I ran into a few problems shortly after and decided to reinstall, this time I chose not to install sample data, one thing I miss is the 404 generated error page, how can I set this up manually?

    Thanks
    Lee

I have set up 404 pages with other sites using the .htaccess file, just wondering if this could/should be set in the admin area?

      Thanks

In MODx, you just create a document in the manager, and then set the Error Page in the site configuration to the document id of the one you created. Anytime a page is not found, users will be sent to this MODx document. The sample data indeed has a great example of an error page with various core snippets configured on it for this purpose.

The general advice for beginners should be to always install the default template. The greatest starting-point you can think of! cool
