    Hi out there!

    I’m just starting with MODx, I’m not a coder and English is not my mother tongue, but nevertheless I am impressed! smiley

    Ok, I installed MODx successfully on my local Xampp and on a Debian-Machine. So I know it works wink.

    But right now I am having a combination of two installation problems discussed here in the forums and only partly solved:

    I am installing on a central University Server, which is on AIX, with the following:
    PHP Version 4.3.4
    Apache/2.0.46 (Unix)
    mysql 4.0.12
    My physical account is on www.domain.de/~subdir
    My domain is www.my.domain.de

    Install routine went fine, after the first login to the manager I encountered this: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2035.0.html problem, which was solved by inserting the proposed lines:
    $base_url='<your /url to your site>';
    $base_path='<your /physical_path to your site>';
    $site_url='<your www.vanity-domain.com>';

    The fix unfortunately resulted in a) the site now not being called anymore with the following error which also b) shows in the backend preview, if I try to edit any document
    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class module in /home/xxx/public_html/assets/modules/quick_edit/module.class.inc.php on line 34

    I found a similar problem posted here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,1640.0.html but no solution was offered.

    I hope this makes any sense to anybody and does anybody have any ideas? smiley
    thanks a lot in advance and thanks also for your work so far!

      Hmpf, anyone, please? :’(

      ---

      Ok maybe this gets somone on the track?

      A virgin install withour any alteration of the config.inc.php shows this error in the frontend (besides the impossibility to log into the backend as desccribed above):
      MODx Parse Error
      « PHP Parse Error »
      PHP error debug
        Error: fopen(./assets/cache/docid_1.pageCache.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory
        Error type/ Nr.: 	Warning - 2
        File: 	.//manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php
        Line: 	550

      ---

      Any help would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you!

        ok, as a friend of mine found out:
        it’s the quickedit module that causes the errors. Don’t know why, but after deleting it everything seems to work fine.
        Clarification would still be appreciated.
        Thanks

          Hi,

          You can also check to make sure that your assets/cache folder is writeable and then refresh your site.

            Hi Raymond,
            assets/cache is 777 since install routine. I don’t think that has anything to do with it.
            But thanks for the reply, anyway, so now I know you people really exist grin
            No honest: thanks.
