    Hi all,

I am thinking of adding a demo of MODx to my site for users to try out. Can anyone make any recommendations/tips etc. for setting this up?

    Thanks
    Lee

Sure, could just point people there. Just thought it would be quite nice to have something on my own site. I could also use it as a playground, as susan has done:

I think I will put it on a backburner for a while anyway though, at least until I have my main site up and running.

        Thanks for the link though

Yes, I like Susan’s playground a lot. And if there are specific, individual solutions you would like to showcase for your users it makes a lot of sense to create a second instance of MODx for that purpose.
I guess for doing this, you should create a 2nd admin-account which can view anything but edit nothing. Not a big issue, and I’m sure Susan will help you with the details if necessary.

            Excellent advice.

            Thanks for that.

Just a remark: Once I was ranting why MODx permits "Edit" but handles "Save" differently. Your showcase-case is the answer: Editing allows you to peek everything, but you cannot save changes you made. This is exactly the type of permission suitable for a showcase. It is not the best way in general, but in this case it’s ok, since there is no "previewing-mode" for snippet-/plugin-/module-code.

EDIT: Don’t know what timezone your’re in, but: http://www.rebootmedia.com/ must rush now wink

Yes, it would be a great insight for newbies like me. Learning from others is the best way IMHO.

                Thanks
