I’m migrating my site (www.forensischepsychiatrie.nl) to Modx. My current site also uses an index.php in the same directory, so I want to rename the index.php from modx with another file (for testing purposes). When i am done setting up the new site i will change it back to index.php. I renamed the index.php to modx.php but is there a way to change this also in Modx? Now every page is linking to index.php?id=***

You can do that in .htaccess. Just replace index.php by whateveryouwant.php... Jus t the preview won’t work shocked

Breezer: you’re brilliant! It worked perfectly! The .htaccess method is not an option because i want to keep my old site running until the Modx version is done.

Breezer, now that you’ve done that, how about tackling renaming the manager folder? smiley

Glad it worked out alright... I have actually changed mine a bit and added a new row in the database system settings which holds the name of the file and it is working pretty smooth so far.

My thinking is that upon initial installation the admin can set the file name ( and in the future the manager folder name as well ), and then have a file the user can upload and run whenever they want to change it... what are the opinions on that?

Changing the manager folder would be a bugger I think since it is referenced in so many different places... not impossible though.

Yes, i was quite surprised the change of the index.php not already an option was. I think lots of people face my problem (replacing old site/index.php).
Maybe it’s an idea to post this modification with example files?

I have created a small set of instructions which include both ways to modify your file - either hard coded or database setting - see the attached text file. As far as an interface and example files, none available yet...

instructions were updated 8/13/06 4:06 pm est

                      ROTFL laugh

EDIT: for the topic: have you ever considered to use another (sub) directory and switch them or redirect the url as needed instead of hacking MODx??
