I don’t think I’ve seen reference to this directly, but given how the system is extensible, was wondering if there were some way to make it happen. I’ll temper this by saying I’ve only encountered one system so far that will actually do it out of the box, but it’s obscure, which makes me cautious about using it.

The basic situation is this: I have a passage from Book A which is a reference to another passage in Book B.

I set this up as two items/entries in my CMS, respectively A and B. I want to establish that there is a connection between those two entries. This isn’t too big a deal, cf. Expression Engine’s related entries for one.

EE’s feature would let the two entries use the other’s data on their respective pages. That’s not what I want. Here’s the weird bit: I want to be able to point at a representation of the actual link between the entries. So the end result is that I have pages A and B, showing their respective passages, and then an entirely separate page/URL which represents the fact that there is a connection A->B.

Does this make sense? Can it be done?
    • This might be useful, at least as a starting point.
