on ne peut pas dire que ton site fasse vraiment la promotion de modx, et pourtant il le devrait...

I was just hinting at the fact that your website was missing some copyright info and the required link back.

      • Sorry for intruding, and for writing in English, but ecommerce is definitely one of the areas we want an integrated module with soon. (can someone translate this for me?) laugh

I’ve got experience with Zen-cart and osC. Which software do you prefer?

        • In the first place, since the MODx code itself does not create such a link, it’s only part of an optional template that is intended to be replaced, the GPL does not require such a link. However, the copyright notice on the Manager Login page is part of the source code, and so while it can be modified, it must be present.

Here’s an article on the same subject from the PHPNuke site:
          http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=6966

In the second place, I paid Alex Butter (the owner of Etomite) for permission to remove the links that the original Etomite did create in the code when I built that site.

I think that we are all able to understand you smiley
I would personnaly go for Zen-cart, as it seems to be a bit easier than Osc.

              Vous en pensez quoi ?

              • I like Zen-cart a lot, but am concerned that it leans a bit towards bloatware.

Actually, I was one of the early founding contributors of Zen-cart, and was a strong webstandards advocate... at any rate, they’ve got some really talented developers.

Honestly, I’d rather see a custom-built shopping cart module built for MODx, as we already have a great way to manage the cart contents. wink (for smallish numbers of products, anyways ... gotta think about searching and so on... ). Somehting that would work with osC’s shipping and payment modules would be ideal.

The thing to take into account is the "time to MODx"...
If developping an "out of the blue mod" means months of hard work, that’s not the right solution. Also, all these "out of the shelves" solutions have a full range of payment solutions already keyed in.
Who will develop the link to an unkown French or Luxembourg bank system ?
As much as I would like to see something fully integrated into MODx, I am not sure it is the best solution...

Ps : Could you move the ecommerce part of the thread to the right forum ?

That is one reason why I chose to continue working with it; there are some sites where such links are not appropriate. The site I mentioned below is a serious corporate site, and the client did not want such a link. And, as I mentioned, out of courtesy, I paid for the developer’s permission. My own site does have a link.
