    Hi,
in your FAQ you said that the distinction between frontend and backend users was made for security reasons. I really don’t understand this. A good permission system could do the same and unify all user management. I mean, there could be a simple "backend" role, so all users with that role get access to the backend while others can only login to the frontend.

I really can’t imagine why this separation would be necessary. IMHO, it just makes it more complicated to build community websites and integrate other web apps via single-sign-on.

    Bye,

Funny you should mention this because this is something that the devs have been discussing as well. The good news is that chances are really good that the user system will be revamped in such a way so that frontend and backend management is unified. The upside of doing it like this is that we can also simplify the API a bit and make it even easier to allow for single sign-on. laugh

        Cool!

When do you think will this be implemented or which version will implement it? V1.0?

Is this going to be implemented in the 0.9.5x version or will we have to wait longer for it? I’ve been eyeballing modx for sometime now and a single permissions account system would greatly simplify things for me.
