    hello,
    i want to add a guestbook to my site, would be great if it worked with modx.

    please do not refer me to the documentation (usercomments), as i have read it a thousand times but I JUST DON’T GET IT!

    isn’t there a thread, file, whatever, describing step by step what i have to do?

    i have created a document with the snippet call. i created the snippets. i created a folder where the comments can be stored in.
    but damn, this thing just does not anything!
    nothing works, neither adding fields nor filling them out.

    that sucks.

    please, anyone help a total newbie!
    thanks!

          but it DOES NOT fetch the right chunks which i have crreated. the names are okay too.
          what is wrong?!
          i dont understand it sad

              I don’t think this has to do with gender... Backticks (i.e ` ) are not so common, I made the same mistake sometimes at first... you’ll sure remember it !

                maybe some poor guy will be as stupid as me,
                so i write the steps down so anyone can follow them.

                1. in manager: create a folder named "Guestbook". Use "UserComments" as Snippet. no caching.
                this is my function call:

                [[UserComments? &formtpl=`guestbookformtpl` &displaytpl=`guestbookdisplaytpl` &dateformat=`%d.%m.%Y um %H:%M Uhr`]]

                NOTE THE BACKTICKS!

                2. create two chuncks, one is called "guestbookformtpl" and one "guestbookdisplaytpl".

                my formtemplate:
                <form method="post" action="[~[*id*]~]">
                   <input name="[+tagname+]" type="hidden" value="on" />

                Name:<br /><input name="name" type="text" size="40" value="" /><br />

                Email:<br /><input name="email" type="text" size="30" /><br />

                Website:<br /><input name="website" type="text" size="40" value="http://" /><br />

                Kommentar:<br /><textarea name="comment" cols="50" rows="8"></textarea><br />

                <input name="send" type="submit" value="Submit" />
                </form>

                my displaytemplate:

                [+UID:[+uid+]+]<div[+postclass+]>
                <div[+titleclass+]>
                Von <strong><a href="mailto:[+email+]">[+name+]</a></strong>, am [+createdon+]<br/>
                Website: <a href="[+website+]" target="_blank">[+website+]</a> <br/>
                </div>
                <div class="content">
                [+comment+]
                </div>
                </div><br/>

                now customize!
