I’m not sure if this is the right forum, but I’ll try it anyway! grin

I have a website with 4 different sections.
Every section has its own template (different colors, different headlines, different pictures and so on).
Now, every section has a link to the main "News Section" (NewsListing).

    Folderlisting:

    -Root
    |
    |-Section 1 (Template 1)
    | |-Page 1
    |
    |-Section 2 (Template 2)
    |
    |-Section 3 (Template 3)
    |
    |-Section 4 (Template 4)
    |
    |-News
    |-News Article 1
    |-News Article 2
    |...

Is there a way I can call the news-page from "Section 3" with the "Template 3"?
Maybe there is a solution like calling the page with "index.php?id=5?template=Template 3"?

    Any hints are welcome!

    Boris

I am not sure I am following you Boris... you can assign a template to any page, it’s not section dependent.

Calling the same page with a different template is possible, with one of the following method :
      - create another document with a different template and use the @DOCUMENT binding (never tried this, but theoretically, should work.. other user will infirm / confirm that)
      - use the Template Switcher Plugin (see link below)

There are probably other methods, as often with MODx not a single way to accomplish your goal, but none comes to mind right now...

Yeah well actually there is something similar thanks to the Template Switcher Plugin

        David,

thank you for your answer. I appreciate gladly any help I can get on this!

This is my second project with MODx and I know there are many many ways to get things work.
But at this moment I have no idea how to manage this - so far.

OK - I’ll try to explain it more detailed to get things clear(er).

The site I’m building has 4 major sections/categories.
Lets say for example the website for a Car Manufacturer with 4 categories like Models, Engines, Tires, Accessories.
Every category is like a little own website with a different templates and its own dropmenu configuration.

I have a News section for all four categories. I managed a filtered output with a TV (Checkboxes)
where I can define per each message in which category the message should be published.
Every category has a folder ’News’ where I have used ’Ditto’ to show the associated news.

        -Site Root
        |
        |-Models (Template 1)
        | |-News (Snippet ’Ditto’ output filtered by tvTag defined in News message)
        | |-Model 1
        | |-Model 2
        | |-Model ...
        |
        |-Engines (Template 2)
        | |-News (Snippet ’Ditto’ output filtered by tvTag defined in News message)
        | |-Engine 1
        | |-Engine 2
        | |-Engine ...
        |
        |-...
        |
        |-News
        |-News Article 1 (To be published in = ’Models,Engines’)
        |-News Article 2 (To be published in = ’Engines’)
        |...

The overview output with Ditto in its respective category works fine. But when I click on ’more’ for the
detailed view of the message I need to assign the specific template for the output, based on the category I’m
        coming from.

A solution could be to define in Ditto with which template the detailed page should be called - or so undecided

But maybe the way I went is completely wrong and there is a ’better’ or let me say an ’easier’
solution to realize a page structure like this.
