    Hi there.

I’m trying to build a privately accessible intranet. Ideally, an anonymous surfer should only be able to access a login page. After logging in, they should be able to view and edit all documents.

I thought this would be a piece of cake with ModX, but I don’t seem to be having much luck... hopefully I am just missing something.

    Problems (as I understand them):

    1) All created documents appear to be viewable by anonymous web surfers. There doesn’t seem to be any way to restrict the viewing of documents to only logged in users... the entire groups permission system seems only for adding management permissions (ie, create, edit, delete)

    2) Users who login to the frontend cannot edit documents.. this is limited to people who login to the Manager backend.

Are there any good solutions to these problems? Is ModX a good fit for what I am trying to accomplish, or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Thanks very much in advance for any responses.

PS, I am an experienced PHP developer, but was hoping to get a basic system up and running without requiring custom coding.

To answer part of my own question...

I figured out (by reading the note at the bottom of this page) you have to assign a Document Group to a *WEB* User Group... this will make it private to other web users. (I had only assigned it to a Manager Group)

EDIT: Aaaaand, scratch problem #2... turns out standard web users do not need to edit documents, this being limited to a handful of Managers is perfectly fine. So... just ignore this whole thread. wink Cheers.
