I was about to give up on this one but then I thought that maybe someone here had had the same kind of problem… I recently transferred a site from my local server to an online server. The address: http://www.protectorabaix.org There I see the pages ok, but when I try to access the manager like http://www.protectorabaix.org/manager I get this error message:

    HTTP Status 404 - /manager/
    type Status report
    message /manager/
description The requested resource (/manager/) is not available.
    Apache Tomcat/5.5.17

They gave me a way to access the manager like http://66.225.253.99/~protecto/manager/

There I can login ok but am unable to edit anything through the front-end which in the case of MaxiGallery seems to be compulsory. I asked them for the full path to enter it in the file manager path under the miscellaneous tab in the admin area. They told me the path is: /home/protecto/public_html/

I uploaded everything to the public_html folder like

    Index.php
    .htaccess
    assets (folder)
    manager (folder)

It goes with saying that any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for this great tool.

Well, it seems that the whole thing was a confusion. Apparently "www.protectorabaix.org/manager" means Tomcat jsp manager. That was the reason of the error that prevented me from accessing MODx manager.

Hope it helps someone else one day…
