There used to be a relationship to Etomite. MODx first started off as a modification of Etomite that added template variables and a bunch of other things. Eventually, MODx was forked off of Etomite 0.6 and the rest is history. What MODx is now is greatly different to what Etomite 0.6 or even 0.6.1 is and will continue to move in a direction that will be even more different. Right now, the manager itself still resembles Etomite to some degree but soon (hopefully very soon!) you’ll be seeing a revised manager with an updated manager theme that resembles the MODx website. So is there still a relationship to Etomite? Sort of...but only in the history of where MODx came from. There’s just not any collaboration or communication with anyone on the Etomite development team anymore. MODx is it’s own thing now.
