OK, I am looking for a new cms/Application Framework solution.
I like what I see here, but I am torn between a few things.
1: do I stick with PHP.... ruby is looking rather good.
2: If I stay with PHP... what about Rail clones like CakePHP or PHPtrax???

Can anyone here give a comparison between ModX’s Application Framework and Ruby On Rails (or The PHP clones)???

-I have noticed that the Web 2.0 Ajax scripts (script.aculo.us) being used with ModX are included with Ruby on Rails.

    Thanks in advance.

Script.aculo.us actually spun out of RoR I think.

You have to choose between ubiquitous deployment. There’s no rock solid answer there. Today, Rails is probably a faster (to develop) but much more resource intensive option – it’s either gonna suck RAM or processor cycles due to Active Record implementation tending to be Query-intensive. I suspect the same could hold true for the PHP-derivatives thereof, but I have no experience to make any semblance of a definitive statement.

MODx should in the very near future offer some pretty stunning capabilities and is not and will not be another me-too project. More later... wink

        thanks for the reply.
I haven’t seen any performance stats on the systems...
but I suspect that you are correct.

In the meantime, you could also check CodeIgniter, kinda like "PHP on Rails"...

If you can wait, I’d go with MODx 1.0/Tattoo though grin

Oh, yes! I get email notifications of the SVN updates, and the comments, while most of them are way over my head, are really getting me excited about the future! These guys are good, not just with the code but with the ideas!
