what does [+action+] mean ?

what does [+action+] mean ? in relation to the login/logout call

log out hyperlink section --> span id="logout">Greetings, [+uid+] | a href="[+action+]">[+logouttext+] </a> </span>

when i use this there’s no link or logout text are we suppose to define it ?
