Allow URL fopen Turned Off

My web hosting provider has turned off "allow url fopen" and that seems to have broken a number of the snippets such as the getdoc and newslisting to name just a couple.

Am I correct in this or is this just coincidental?

Never mind. It is some other links that I have going that was causing the problems.
