I have to create a rather large site in two languages, and I used this tutorial to guide me

even though it’s fairly straightforward, couldn’t get links to appear, I had already set up a language bar hardcoded to the actual start redirect pages anyway, so I will leave it at that, but my question is about how google will view those redirects
I mean will it view as a negative redirect kinda like blackhat seo type stuff or will it jump to the main page and be able to index the meta, heading tags, code, and content in a positive manner as it would had the bot not been redirected
?
essentially will it cause problems for SEO?
EDIT: I know this has to be a very stupid question, but I was just wondering how a site like this would be indexed.
