    I have to publish my resources using charset ISO-8859-1 because of compatibility issues with other database tables. The problem is that I can choose that charset for my front-end, but not for the manager pages. When I publish, the main content shows ok, because MODx or TinyMCE is changing accentuation characters to html entities, but my titles and meta show all wrong.

    This seems obvious, since I’m publishing the text from a UTF-8 page and showing it through an ISO-8859-1 page. Is it only me, or this problem is really a bug in MODx 1.0.0? Can I work around that? Should I try hardcoding the ISO-8859-1 to the manager pages? I’d hate to have to do that.

    I’d be very thankful for any help with this.

      I hope you have already solved your problem. Anyway, I post the solution as a reference, since I had the same problem after an upgrade.

      The charset used in the manager is defined in the language file, in manager/includes/lang.
      Open your language file. If there is a line like
      $modx_manager_charset = 'utf-8';

      change the charset to iso-8859-1. Instead, if $modx_manager_charset is not defined in that file, add the line
      $modx_manager_charset = 'iso-8859-1';
