Looking for a Korean config file for Modx 1.0. Is anyone else working on this or is there even any interest in a Korean install? Are there any plans currently for MODx to support Korean? If you guys are interested give me a reply to this post, I can have a translation made if none exists or if none is in the works.
I don’t speak Korean (not yet at least!), but I think this would be a great addition. I need to put together a Thai translation one of these days...
So, it doesn’t sound like much is going on in this space. I have to build a Korean site so I suppose I can work the translation into the budget, but it will likely happen later on once the site is already running. I’ve never read into character encoding much, but from what I understand UTF-8 is the best encoding for a database that needs to contain characters from multiple langages (in this case, at least Korean and English). Anyone have a different recommendation?

No, utf-8 is definitely the way to go. Just make sure that your database is set to utf-8, and the default collation is also utf-8. I am not sure if it will affect you or not, but with some languages it makes a difference which of the three types of utf-8 collations you can have (utf8-general, utf8-unicode, utf8-bin).

If you have the time, I would suggest setting up a trial database and see how it works with the different collations. There are also Korean charsets and collations if for some reason uft-8 doesn’t seem to suit.
