I use UTF 8 encoding in the database.
(See image nr. 0.)
When I try to edit a document with special characters (Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Bosnian...) using Quick Edit in the front end, it seems OK. BUT, Manager shows funny characters in the Description, Long title. etc. while the Document Content gets scrambled when Edited in the back end.
(See image nr. 1.)
Upon saving, the document shows funny characters in the front end.
(See image nr. 2.)
Does anybody have a clue what do I need to set in order to see the characters of my language displayed correctly in the Document Tree, and other Manager forms?
What do I need to set in order to have Back end editor keep my document content correctly, character encoding wise?

This thread holds the answer.
After reading this, I’ve looked the tables closer in PMA. I’ve seen some Latin 1 pages.
Seems like my web host from sweeden has sweedish default collation too.
I changed that in the database by exporting all modx tables, searched and replaced so that all defaults to UTF8 ci and then sarched and replaced latin1 into UTF8. Dropped all modx tables. Imported my edited sql file.
Deleted test samples, created new ones. All characters are now visible and editable in the content. I will investigate more, before I conclude that this issue is resolved.
