Thanks Susan,
Don’t you think we can take the specific db properties at the time of installation (So the config file will be descriptive enough for collation and db settings, so hack to the installer needs to be done) or even it can be available at the manager configuration tab,... what do you think?

I believe that’s being worked on now.
Hi,
continuing on from my earlier posts. I set up a clean install with unicode encoding in the database, and things seem to be working pretty well with Hebrew content in MODx. However, I have a small issue I want to try and fix with TinyMCE:
I don’t get standard behaviour when using the right/left arrows in the TinyMCE interface when I have Hebrew text there. It works as expected with english text in the exact same window, but not when there are Hebrew characters there - like, when I get to the end of a line, instead of moving down to the next when moving the cursor with the arrow, it moves up. Other behaviour, like typing text and pressing enter for a break etc, all seems to be working perfectly.
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I have used TinyMCE elsewhere, where is has "normal cursor behaviour" when using arrows on Hebrew text.
Thanks,
Paul.
Thats true, you need to get the RTL-TinyMCE to get it work properly in RTL languages, i have done RTL-TinyMCE plus many more built-in functionalities to be used in RTL languages and will add’em in the SVN as soon as i get the persian languages done for it, stay tuned for updates on RTL-0.9.6 SVN branch, you can find a link in my signature.

That will be wonderful. I’ve finally started on a multilanguage site that will have Hebrew, and the users will be wanting their Manager in Hebrew as well. I was worried about the RTE, because I’d be no help to them at all.
I read somewhere that PHP 6 will have full support for UTF-8 Unicode, which will make things much easier for all of us non-Western types as well.
Cool news about PHP 6
Don’t worry about RTE’s, I am going to make RTL-FCKEditor after the exams, RTL is not a simple issue to over come, It starts with display issue but when you want to do soemthing in RTL, you come accross a real issues that LTR languages don’t.
Because of a major structural difference from LTR or western & even far-eastern languages that RTL language users face, Persian community members came with bilingual installer idea at first and the manager RTL/LTR functionality & now we have multilingual installer & RTL/LTR switcher in manager that supports every languages needs.
So basically RTL issues has been reffered/discussed to/with Persian language users in MODx but now things has changed and again for Hebrew, Kurdish, Urdu, Arabic language users will be as well that their community might come with new ideas, developers, contributors.
Having that said, I was wondering that maybe we need an additional RTL focused subforum under the internationalization forum to discuss or announce or develop things that RTL users face from LTR shift, what do you say?

That’s a great idea ... in the interim, can you preface topics with a "[ RTL ] " bit of text?

Yes i can do it for all the topics i will be making But, The point is to have users from different languages share their ideas, knowledge, code in one place, This might be a little early cause still Persian is the only RTL language carried by MODx.
