    I think it would be a better idea to use a template with a standard layout, something like this: http://www.planetphotoshop.com/ or like this http://mashable.com

    The template should be nice but also as simple as possible, otherwise it is hard to modify.

    I took a look at the above templates these are not really free templates as such, they are actually sites.

    From my point of view these would be a lot more difficult than the site I have modified for MODX.

    I have created a development server at Kodingen with the code from the template I converted.
    http://html5.allanb.kodingen.com/

    I was impressed with the way Kodingen works. I was able to use this free coding resource I have even installed MODX Revolution not bad for a free site.

    By the way site only uses rounded corners and a few other HTML5 features.

      I don’t know....I kind of feel that just about every build within MODX is going to end up being some sort of custom integration - that’s one of the best parts of the software (and the worst parts so far as marketing it to the general public, who likely wants plug-and-play ease). If anything, I would say either:

      1. Make the template with a TV or two that adds stuff into the sidebar and takes it out, as well as a blank TV for placing their own stuff into the sidebar, and call it a day.
      -or-
      2. Make a few different templates with different features in the sidebar.

            @Arialia Thanks

            I have been testing this template with FF 3.6 and found out almost all of the css3 things were not working so have modified the css mainly rounded corners but also some transitions.

            Should look a bit better in Firefox 3+

            I did check originally with FF 4 before I started converting to MODX.
