License - Default MODx Template by Modxhost?

    Dear colleagues,

    I would like to ask a question related to the default MODx Template created by Modxhost.
    Is the template GNU-GPL licensed, also like the MODx CMS?

    Is it possible to remove the backlink legally, after redesign and adaptation of the template?

    or should it remain intact and another sentence will sho redesign and adaptation, like:
    Powered by MODx Template © 2006 modXhost.com, Redesign and adaptation by company name
