Support/Comments for Easy 2 Gallery 1.4.0-pl

Plans for Revo?

For one of my next projects I have to decide whether to use Evo or Revo. I’d rather go for the latter but It lacks a sophisticated gallery system ("gallery" is very stripped down and has thumbnail-caching issues) like e2g.

So what are your plans? When can we expect e2g on Revo? Really looking forward to it!

I’m new to easy2 and have read thru a lot of the previous version threads here on the forum, but I’m still missing something as simple as displaying an image description in the enlargement. IMHO it would really be helpful to see just a few more call examples in the documentation. I’m not even sure how to switch viewer templates.

I need time to choose how the E2G clone for Revo should be done.
Revo has a bunch of great features, that I need to pick the best one.
eg:
In Evo, E2G lists the folders and images right on the module’s frame.
In Revo, I can do that, but I wonder if I can use the ’context’ as the replacement.

In Evo, all settings are done on module.
In Revo, we can use the ’System Settings’, can’t we?

etc...
The bottomline is I need to find the EASIEST way to use this add-on for Revo.

Your default viewer is set by module from this option: Menu> Settings> Thumbnails> Snippet’s Options> JS Library: &glib=[dropdown list].
That setting can be overridden on the runtime by snippet call by using that &glib=`choose_another` parameter.
So, what’s your default viewer?

Thanks, my default viewer is highslide. In fact, I’ve made no changes to any default settings. I’m sure that image description is hiding somewhere...

Sorry, but I’m not following your directions... change exactly what and where in module settings? Tweak the thumbnail_1.htm template?

Don’t want to whine, but all this, just to have an image’s description (used as a caption) appear in the enlargement?

I feel like I’ve just been given a wrench and told to fix the airplane...

Does one of the other viewers make this simple task, well, actually simple? I’m not wedded to highslide.

OK, forget about the module changes.
You can create a new file rather overwrite the default template.
Let’s say, create a new file: assets/modules/easy2/templates/puffin/thumbnail.htm

Yep, that works. Thanks @goldsky for your patience and help.

edit: Hmm, but only works once. Close the enlargement popup, re-click the same thumb, and the popup displays image but fails to display description. Reload the page and it works again--once, that is, then same problem.

Bump--does anyone know if the problem I’m experiencing (enlargement popup with description displays correctly with first click, then reverts to no description on subsequent clicks) is a bug in highslide or easy 2?

It’s not e2g’s issue.
E2G is only about managing the content inside the module, and provide their information at front end to be used by viewers.
When dealing with image pop-up, then the issues belong to the javascript viewers.

Now, open your Module> Menu> Viewers> click Highslide>
Change the "Image’s link attribute" from

class="highslide" onclick="return hs.expand(this, {slideshowGroup: ’[+easy2:show_group+]’})"

to

class="highslide" onclick="return hs.expand(this, {slideshowGroup: ’[+easy2:show_group+]’, captionId: ’description_[+easy2:fid+]’})"

Perhaps one day you need more magic from that javascript viewer, you gonna need to dig their options deeper.
All the fields behind the module as mentioned above, are implemented into the placeholders.
