I noticed the same problem - slow gallery with phpthumb. What i made are (in modx settings in phpthumb tab):
- set number of cache files from 10000 to 500,
- set cache memory from 100MB to 25MB
Then I deleted all cache folder in phpthumb cache. And now all site works about 10 times faster!
Try it.
I’ve got about 50 subgalleries about 10 images in each folder so 500 files is good for me.
Strange one... Using phpThumb dramatically increases loading times once you get to the gallery page. However when I first load the page it takes ages. It seems the waiting time of the images has been transfered to the waiting time of the page.
is there a solution to this problem? i have the same issue here, using MODx Revolution 2.0.6-pl (traditional) and Gallery v1.2.1 and phpThumbOf v1.2.1.
i tried a lot of different settings with or without using phpThumbOf, still: not all of the thumbs are showing up, but broken images instead.
I’d upgrade to 2.1 and upgrade the gallery as lots of changes have been made to the cacheing. Loads really quick now.
