    I’ve successfully installed Gallery and have Galleriffic working, just not the way I want.

    The original images are uploaded as 800 x 400 but are displayed using the default width of 500px.

    In my Gallery call I used &imageWidth=`800` &imageHeight=`400` but then no image is displayed just the Galleriffic loader spinning forever.

    Here is my gallery call:
    [[!Gallery? &album=`[[*albumName]]` &plugin=`Galleriffic` &gallerifficThumbWidth=`60` &gallerifficThumbHeight=`60` &imageWidth=`800` &imageHeight=`400`  &renderSSControls=`0` &renderNavControls=`0`]]

    What do I need to do to get the images to display at 800x400?

      I changed the values in the snippet from 500 to 800 and now the images are displaying the correct size but it looks awful. It appears as though it’s still using a 500px wide image and is stretching it to 800. This is confirmed by opening the image in a new window and viewing the URL.

      assets/components/gallery/connector.php?action=web/phpthumb&w=500&h=500&zc=0&far=&src=%2Fmodx%2Fassets%2Fcomponents%2Fgallery%2Ffiles%2F2010%2F08%2Fpepperberry-logo.jpg

      Notice the "phpthumb&w=500&h=500&z" part. I’m not sure what this means but it looks to me like something called phpthumb is resizing my images to only being 500px wide before they are displayed. I searched through the system setting looking for anything that would allow me to change this but it doesn’t exist.

      Anyone know how I can resolve this? Getting this gallery working is the last thing I need to do before deploying my site on the web.

          I still have not figured out how to change the large image size though I was able to figure out how to use a jquery to display the images.
          Here is a page from my website with gallery implemented, the gallery is at the bottom of the page.

              Are all your images preset to the 800x400 size? What happens if you want to add a square or vertical image?

              Hopefully some day someone will come along and really do a great job of presenting a step by step tutorial on Gallery, Galleriffic, thumbnails, image size options, additional jquery options, etc, all written in easy to understand english. I would love to see a thorough tutorial on Mary’s codingpad site for example.

                This is the implementation that I have used on my own website http://elixirbranding.com using the following. I ended up not using gallerific but slimbox2 instead.
                - MODx Revo 2.x
                - gallery 1.02
                - JQuery
                - Slimbox2

                Here is my Gallery call
                [[!Gallery? &album=`[[*albumName]]` &thumbTpl=`galleryThumbTpl` &thumbWidth=`60` &thumbHeight=`60`]]

                Here is the Chunk used for template `galleryThumbTpl`
                <div class="[[+cls]]">
                    <a href="[[+image]]" title="[[+description]]" rel="lightbox-group">
                        <img class="[[+imgCls]]" src="[[+thumbnail]]" alt="[[+name]]" />
                    </a>
                </div>

                That’s all there is too it really. Follow the instructions for using slimbox and make sure you add the rel="lightbox-group" to your thumbnail template and it works. Though that is for a group of images. If you are just wanting to use Slimbox with one image you have to use something else but it’s all explained in the Slimbox documentation. It’s been several months since I finished this site and don’t remember all the particulars. The issues I had with images being resized seems to have been fixed with Gallery 1.02. So you can upload whatever size images you would like.

                It took me forever to figure this out but felt dumb when I realized how simple it was. That’s the joy of MODx, nothing is really ever that difficult because you have control over everything.

                  Clayton,

                  I am in the middle of learning and "warming up to" Revo Gallery and so far its not going well.

                  I see this system is working nicely here: http://www.elixirbranding.com/creative/medspa.html

                  One question: how large are these images? To my eye it seems like a couple of the images (with people) are taking some time to load? I get the loading gif on my screen longer than my Evo MaxiGallery image galleries...

                    Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Those images were 400px x 600px, but were 240ppi resolution. I’ve resized them to a 72ppi.

                      Good! Its nice to know it was unneeded resolution rather than something with the script...
