Create gallery before publishing document?

    What I want to do is to publish the document once it is complete including the gallery and all pictures.

    Now I have to create document, write content, add gallery snippet, save, publish and only then I can upload pictures. This means that at one moment there is public document without any pictures and I think it is not very professional when visitor can see incomplete content of my web.

      just uncheck "Published?" and "Show in menu" -> save the ressource -> now you’re able to preview & edit the ressource without someone else seing ... until you publish it

        It’s a pity it’s not possible to edit gallery directly wail editing whole document. And your way doesn’t work either.

        The checkbox "Published" has no effect on whether the article will be published or not. It’s always published, I don’t know why, maybe it is a bug? Only functional way how to to unpublish document is via document tree in manager. And I can’t edit gallery in manager...

          I am sorry, I know where is the problem.

          There is automatically prefilled date of document publishing which causes that document is immediately published even if I unchecked "Published" checkbox. Therefore the option in configuration whether new documents should be automatically published is useless as long as there is prefilled current date as a publishing date in every document.

          Can I disable it somewhere? And can I disable "Show in menu" checkbox?

            tools -> configuration -> System configuration -> Site -> Published default -> no

            elements ->    ->  Manage Elements -> chunks -> mm_demo_rules -> and change "mm_default('pub_date');" to "// mm_default('pub_date');"

              Wow, very useful information smiley Thank you very much. Editing mm_demo_rules solved the problem. Now the "Published" checkbox and the option in System configuration work properly.
