No.. it’s not possible as maxigallery creates copies of the uploaded images and do not store the gif animations. Or actually there is one way. If you use &keep_big_img parameter and set the max_big_size to zero, the original uploaded image is saved with "big_" as the filename prefix. Then you can use that with phpThumb to resize it to a smaller size as phpThumb can handle animated gifs..
Or you could set the max_pic_size to zero too, that should make maxigallery to store the original uploaded file (if you dont use any masking or dropshadows etc). Then use phpThumb in maxigallery templates to resize the images into thumbnails etc.
