MaxiGallery doesn't show child galleries

Hi

I have installed MaxiGallery and followed the wiki instruction ( http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MaxiGallery#Creating_your_first_gallery ) to create my first gallery. But the child galleries are not listed on my page. For the images all seems works correctly.

Can someone help me ?

I have installed a local server, debugger and eclipse with the PHP plugin. I noticed that MaxiGallery execute the following query

but this table is empty. At which moment MaxiGallery should insert the new galleries ?

Maxigallery wont show anything in the childgalleries view until you have uploaded some images to the childgallery documents..

And how can I upload images to my child galleries if I can see them ?

By navigating to the document with some other means than MaxiGallery childgalleries list. Access it for example with writing the url manually.

You can also list gallery documents with Ditto if you want.. and to get a picture from the gallery to the list, you can use MaxiGallery in Dittos row template.

I had the same problem but found the solution.

The problem is that the default gallery outer template doesn’t contain the placeholder [+maxigallery.childgalleries+] and therefore child galleries won’t be displayed. You have to create a custom gallery outer template (chunk) that contains the placeholder [+maxigallery.childgalleries+] and pass that chunk to the MaxiGallery snippet.

Example:

Create a chunk named myOuterTpl and place following code in it:



Then call the MaxiGallery snippet like this:

Umm.. the placeholder definitely is in the default galleryOuterTpl... right at the top of the template. (atleast in v0.6 test version)

@JuTs: Please make sure that the placeholder is in your template if you have modified the default galleryOuterTpl or if you created your own galleryOuterTpl.

And how can I upload images to my child galleries if I can see them ?

You can enter the URL of the gallery manually in order to upload images to it. You alternatively can use the preview feature of MODx. In the MODx Manager edit the page containing the childgallery and use the preview to access the "Manage Pictures" button. Once you have uploaded one image, the childgallery will show up in the list of childgalleries.

Maybe we should create a MODx module with wich galleries could be managed in the MODx Manager. For most of my customers it was quite irritating that they had to manage the galleries on the frontend of their sites. Beeing able to manage them in the MODx Manager would be a great improvement.

MaxiGallery can already be managed in MODx manager with the ManagerManager plugin, see the sticky FAQ topic.
