showing pics in a fixed position

Hi!

I need to show pics in a fixed position... a div or something...
to achieve something like this

o’s are thumbnails
and at right the place where to show the big image... (or wherever that div/space is placed)

can I do this using maxigallery?
it is too complicated to implement?

I mean showing it in a placeholder (div ?)
not using a modal window
