is editing the template variables (fields) not the same as editing the document content with fckeditor ?
when validating the pages it frown on using quotes " " in the doc fields instead it suggested i use the actual code "

It should be the same. I’m not surprised at all that FCK kills validation.

i had a simple "text with some quotes" so I had to replace it like this & #8220; text with some quotes & #8221; to get it to validate
