Help with Installation

Hello, I’ve recently started working with MODx for an art site.
I’m trying to use MaxiGallery but I can’t seem to ever get a gallery to show up.

I’ve tried the basic installation guides and a more advanced guide from the wiki titled "Open popup with prev/next links" (http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MaxiGallery"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">ctrl+f the title), but I can’t seem to get either to work.
when I go to the page that I’m trying to make into a gallery all I see is the code printed out as text.

Try turning off the Rich Text Editor (uncheck the Rich Text Box and save) for the document. Possibly TinyMCE has mangled your snippet tag.

That helped some, I think. I now have a "Manage Pictures" box on both pages.
However, when I try to upload I get this error message:

You have your server setup so that PHP user does not have right’s to move the files from temp directory to the web directory.

You can enable MaxiGallery to use FTP commands to upload files and that should solve your issues. See MaxiGallery wiki page and all the parameters that have "ftp" in them.

Okay, I added the ftp parameters to my snippet call:

[!MaxiGallery? &js=`mgJs` &galleryPictureTpl=`mgGalleryPicture` &picture_target=`48` &use_ftp_commands=`1` &ftp_port =`21` &ftp_base_dir=`/` &ftp_user=`gymdawg_zymichost` &ftp_pass=`**********` &ftp_server=`gymdawg.zymichost.com`!]

My directory path is "/www/zymichost.com/g/y/m/gymdawg/htdocs/assets/snippets/maxigallery/maxigallery.php" so I think I got the ftp_base_dir right ("&ftp_base_dir=`/"), however, I’ve tried "/htdocs/" as well.

With all that said, I’m still getting the same error.
I checked the folder permissions through FTP and they’re 777.

&ftp_base_dir should be the path where to go from ftp login root to get to modx installation base path.

So if you use a FTP clien to login to your ftp, if it goes straight to MODx installation base direction, then it should be /. But if you need to navigate to some deeper directories from the ftp login root, then you need to set that path to the ftp_base_dir.

If you still are getting the same issue, then I don’t know.

I just double checked and "/" is the correct path. I guess I’ll just have to find another gallery solution.
It’s a shame really, MaxiGallery looked perfect.

yeah.. seems quite odd though if you have the exactly same error message when using FTP commands in MaxiGallery, because the uploading should be now done via FTP and it should at least have different user id.
