How do I do this?

What I’m trying to do is I have a Projects page and this is pretty much a summary of all my Projects or child pages under site.com/projects. On the detailed page which would be something like site.com/projects/project01 I would like to be able to upload pictures directly into the page so their is a gallery of 3-6 images on the page. I would like for maybe the first image to be pulled and resized using Ditto to be displayed on the first page.. its very confusing since im new

sure you can easily use Ditto to pull information/images from site.com/projects/project01 to your site.com/projects page.
the resizing of the image on the projects page could be done with the phpThumb PHx modifier:

In Ditto chunk, you can use [[MaxiGallery? &gal_query_ids=`[+id+]`]] to show pictures from certain gallery. Then if you only want one thumbnail even if the gallery itself would have more, use the &limit=`1` parameter to limit it.
