Vertical Carousel

Have the external carousel working now need it to be vertical. I’ve read through the posts on the smoothgallery site. I did a global find and replace on the maxigallery directory and set carouselHorizontal: false. Even tried passing it in the MaxiGallery parameters on the page. Nothing seems to work. here is a link to the page.

Note, I’m using the jd.gallery.js from this post. I didn’t compare it line for line with the original js.gallery.js included with the latest 0.6 download. Here is a link to the post.

I did have time to compare the js files and they are the same, except the changes for a external gallery and infopane. Anyone? on how to get a vertical external carousel?

Maybe you can use your own carousel JS. I personally like "jCarousel Lite".

Thanks, would rather stay with MaxiGallery. Have used it on all the sites I’ve built so I guess the more that I can learn the better.

I do have the gallery going vertical. The images get "very nervous" when you hover over them. I still need help sorting that out.

I understand that you have done some work to get the smoothgallery working this way.. but just to let you know, another alternative would be to set it up like this and add jCarousel to the mix to list the thumbnails vertically. Would probably offer you a more solid setup when it’s done.. but needs some work to set it up. There are pretty good tutorials on the site which I linked to. You can start with the first setup and work your way up until you reach the last setup. Then add jCarousel to the page and make the thumbnails go there, e.g. change the galleryPictureTpl to generate the thumbnails inside <li> instead of <div> and call the jCarousel initialize script.

Thanks doze. I don’t see a vertical scroller on the solution that you suggested. I think I’ll slog my way through the code and sort out what I have.

Yeah... like I wrote above, you could first setup it like the way it is in the tutorial and then add jCarousel (lite) to the page to display the thumbnails in vertical scroller..

But this is just another alternative. Implement it the way you see best.

Or you could use jCarousel lite in your current setup, like Cipa said. It doesn’t mean that you need to change away from MaxiGallery, just integrate it to your current setup.

Thanks I got it sorted. Still need to fix one error but no big deal.
