Weird Error Message when Uploading

Hi All,

When trying to upload images via maxigallery I’m getting the following error:

I’m including 6 different galleries in one chunk (the chunk is included on all pages of my site). Here’s my Maxi Call included in the 6 individual documents:

[!MaxiGallery? &pics_per_row=`1` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`0` &limit=`1` &order_by=`random` !]

And here’s an example of the maxi calls in the chunk that the galleries are being included on:

[!MaxiGallery? &pics_per_row=`1` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`0` &limit=`1` &order_by=`random` &view_gallery=`148` !]

The pictures are successfully uploading despite this error and there are definitely no permissions problems that i can see.

I’m also having issues when adding in titles and descriptions. When I click save maxi says "changes have been saved" but my text disappears.

I haven’t really touched any of the template files and I’m using version 0.5.2. Any ideas?

It also appears that when I upload a file it changes the galleries folder to 333 (-wx-wx-wx). I have no idea why.. this is really weird stuff.

I’m guessing you are using v0.5.x? Try the v0.6 test version. That should be fixed in it. You can find more info about that error through here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,36851.0.html

Hi Doze,

I just upgraded 0.6 and that did fix the upload error message, thanks a ton.

The other problem is still happening, where titles and descriptions won’t save. I’ll explain my setup one more time so it’s super clear:

I have a "sidebar" chunk. In this chunk are six galleries that appear on every page of the site. Each of these galleries is a child document inside a hidden folder. Here’s the Maxi call that exists on each of those documents (obviously each one has a unique id in for the manage_target parameter):

On my homepage I also have a smoothgallery slideshow going. The call for that one is on a child page of my homepage and looks like this:

I’m quite confident the problem with titles and descriptions not saving is because I have those 6 galleries appearing in the sidebar of every page and they are conflicting in some way with the rest of the galleries on the site (since multiple galleries are appearing on the same page in many instances). SO I’ve kind of figured it out, but I still can’t think of what to do for the individual gallery pages that also include the sidebar galleries.

What I realized is that the reason they weren’t saving was because the document that is the actual gallery and that is used for uploading images can NOT have multiple managers on it. When you click the "manage pictures" button on one of the pages that has it’s own gallery on it, the sidebar managers would also appear and this was my problem.

I was able to take away the sidebar galleries for the "hidden" gallery documents that don’t ever get viewed and are only used for managing the pictures. My problem now is with the pages that are galleries and that act as their own managers... I want the sidebar galleries to appear on these pages, but when I goto manage these the manager comes up for both the individual gallery AND all 6 sidebar galleries, thus creating the conflict.

Any ideas on how to setup these individual child gallery pages and include the sidebar galleries would be AWESOME!!

Yeah, the problem is simply that when you manage a gallery, you cannot have other galleries on the same document. Eg. you would need to create a template that doesn’t have any galleries on it. Then create a document with that template with &is_target=`1` parameter in the maxigallery call. Then use that document as your &manage_target for the other galleries. All galleries can use the same document to manage them btw, if the picture size settings are the same.

So you need to create one document that runs with only one maxigallery call and use that to manage all the galleries.

There is also this hack that adds parameter to disable picture management http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,20815.0.html

Thanks Doze, the hack propsed on that post worked like a charm

I applied the hack parameter to the galleries in the sidebar on the pages that were galleries themselves and it’s good to go. You da man!!
