Using Template Variables to populate a MaxiGallery with images + Ditto calls

Hello,

I would like to create a page that has a ditto call displaying information on sculptors. The page will include name, age, description and 3 thumbnail images taken from a gallery.

Is it possible to combine a ditto call with information from a MaxiGallery (the 3 thumbnail images) ?

Is it possible to populate a MaxiGallery using template variables? (Can each artist/sculptor page be updated using template variables)

You can use MaxiGallery in Ditto’s templates.

I presume that each "sculptor" have it’s own document that you list with Ditto, yes? Then use MaxiGallery in each of those documents to upload pictures about them. Then in Ditto’s row template, use: [!MaxiGallery? &view_gallery=`[+id+]`!]

Should i create a image folder with the associated id, then use a Template Variable with a File Input Type?

Also, i only intend on showing 3 images in the ditto call as a kind of teaser. I assume this will also be possible in the call i use?

Easiest for the end user would be MaxiGallery ManagerManager plugin. It creates a new tab to the document editing view which holds the picture management for that document. You would create a certain site template for the sculptor documents and possibly set the MaxiGallery call already in the site template so users won’t mess with it. Then configure the MaxiGallery ManagerManager plugin to run with that template and possibly automate the template selection if document is created under certain parent. Then you could do a folder "Galleries" in MODx manager and when you create a document under it, it would automatically select the correct template and show the picture management tab.

Yes, use &limit=`3` in the snippet call. See available snippet parameters from MaxiGallery wiki page.

Thank you. Managed to get this working. The last problem i have is when i click on an image, it does not offer the <prev or next> options.

This is the call i make:

Am i missing something?

Slidebox is quite old script actually. It was the first one that I included in to MaxiGallery. Slidebox reads the pictures for it’s picture set from a XML file. You must go to the picture management after you have enabled slidebox and hit the "save changes" button there. It will then generate needed XML file and you should get the prev / next links.

You might want to try slimbox or lightboxv2 embed options too though..
