Modular setup of external caroussel in smoothgallery

Hi Frank. Are you talking about the CSS properties of the mySlideInfoZone div? I have been able to get the separate infozone working. I’ve also backed up to the default js.smoothgallery.css file but no luck. It’s only when I throw in the useExternalCarousel that the problem shows up. The site is live but only on my dev site. I don’t think my client wants me to post a link to the site in a public area yet. I will try to replicate the issue at another location and post the link. Thanks for your help.

so I just finished a brand new install with the instructions posted above and noticed a few problems. I had to do a few more edits to the jd.gallery.css.
That’ s why I attached that file in the first post and commented the changes I made. They may be different for your own needs, but you should get it up and runing this way.

I still can’t get this to work. When I make &smoothgallery_useExternalCarousel=`true` all I get is the loading bar.

I checked it out with FireBug and i get this error on line 368 of the jd.gallery.js script:



Interestingly when I set &smoothgallery_showCarousel=`false` I don’t get the error but I also don’t get a carousel.

Any thoughts?

perhaps someone else can help you there.
There is no mention of mootools twice in the source, and I use the chroome inspect elements to check if all the divs are there.
Maybe an idea? Also did you build this one from scratch, meaning uploaded the images after you build it? Just soem thoughts.

yep got it running here http://www.italianartists.eu/work and I installed it lately local on xampp.
And that worked fine. So you should be able to,

Hi Frank. I did manage to get this to work. I rebuilt from scratch with your edited files and all work fine accept my server needs to have SAFE MODE turned off. I can work around that for now though. It seems that even though the gallery worked fine without an external carousel if I set that parameter to true I needed to upload all of the images again. Bingo! everything loaded. Should have tried that earlier.

I just uploaded the files to the gallery directory and re-synced the gallery. I haven’t tried the MG FTP setup yet. I will though.
