Newbie problem installing Maxigallery

OK- I am NOT using FTP, I am dragging files onto a local dev server. So-these two steps are confusing me:

- FTP to your server an go to the modx installation folder
- Put the extracted assets folder to the site root and the files will go to correct place

WHERE is the "correct place"?? Do I HAVE to use ftp? I am looking at older install instructions that say:

* 3. Copy all exept maxigallery.txt to assets/snippets/maxigallery/ -folder
* 4. Create a new folder assets/galleries/ and make it writable (CHMOD 0666 or 0777)

Is this where the files go?

ok, so I tried it- and only get my snippet call on my Gallery 1 page. I followed the wiki instructions. Any ideas?

ok, got it to work.. now I am having this problem, mentioned in another thread but not solved:

I see a Manage Pictures button on the parent (id=2) gallery page, and the entire snippet call unparsed on the child gallery (id=18) page. Although, it is doing some parsing, because the [! has been changed to [[. I originally had the snippet call that is on the child gallery on the parent gallery page, but I moved it because the client now wants multiple galleries.

Any suggestions?
